Dr. Brian C. Sharp

BS (Bachelor of Science) Biomedical Science 1983 Summa Cum Laude Texas A&M University

BS (Bachelor of Science) Veterinary Science 1985 Cum Laude Texas A&M University Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 1987 Texas A&M University

After earning a degree in Veterinary Medicine, passing the required federal and Texas state board examinations, and receiving a Texas license to practice; Dr. Sharp moved to San Antonio to begin his career in 1987. Dr. Sharp has practiced at several hospitals in the San Antonio area including: Animal Defense League, Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital, Animal Health Associates, Bexar County Emergency Animal Clinic and the Emergency Pet Clinic. Dr. Sharp joined the staff of Pigott Animal Hospital in 1990 and became a partner in 1992. Pigott Animal Hospital, one of the oldest pet hospitals in San Antonio (est. 1964) relocated to its present location in 1992. Upon Dr. Ed Pigott's retirement in 1993, Dr. Sharp became the new Chief of Staff of Pigott Animal Hospital. The hospital was renamed SharpCare Animal Hospital in 1994 and Animal Hospital of Westover Hills in 2008. Dr. Sharp's background in both general medicine and critical care makes him well qualified to handle his patients' routine and emergency medical needs. Dr. Sharp has excellent surgical shells in both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and has performed thousands of elective sterilization procedures (spays and neuters). As an advocate for reducing the pet over population problem, and the subsequent unnecessary euthanasia of thousands of dogs and cats in San Antonio, Dr. Sharp is a strong believer in early spaying and neuter programs. Having previously worked with the Animal Defense League and Man and Beast, Dr. Sharp is currently partnered with the Humane Society/SPCA or Bexar County and Maddie's Spay and Neuter Project in Texas.
